A 15 minute rapid game is no excuse. That's plenty of time.
There is a lot of difference in a 15 minute rapid than a 150+ min standard game.
This is bound to start a plague of ''can a 1300 beat a GM'' type threads, SmyslovFan has openned Pandora's box.
Aren't there threads like that out there already? Don't get me started...
Well, at least we know a 1500 player can beat a 2700 player. One cannot imagine how these things happen, but they do. Rapid is certainly not classical, but this is still pretty crazy.
The higher rated player just thought that he could win by nt even trying because of rating diffence
Well, the player handling Black must have been embarrased after that loss (ha ha ha).
looked like to me the top player was overthinking his moves to be honest. This happens.

If I tried my hardest I can pretty much beat any GM. The only thing is, is I need an engine.

Once again, it wasn't blitz, it was rapid. Both players had 15 minutes for the entire game.
To me, it looks like the GM stepped on a mine and blew himself up. 15xx rated players can find a killer attack if it's served up to them on a silver platter.
It's been several months since this game was played. If there was anything suspicious about it, a complaint would have surfaced by now.
I haven't seen any discussion of this huge upset in the Corsica Oscaro Open.
