Ok everyone. Round 2 of the London Chess Classic is now over. The first game that finished today is Magnus Carlsen(W) vs. Michael Adams(B), who resigned after 49.Kf2. Magnus evens out his score after losing yesterday and is going into tomorrow's round 3 with a little momentum.

His game today was the English Opening: Four Knights Variation with 4.g3.

   Here it is:

We now shift our attention to the player that might be the dark horse in this tournament, Luke McShane. After defeating Magnus yesterday, he had Black today against another chess great, Nigel Short. The Opening was a Sicilian Dragon: Yugoslav Attack. Short resigned after 52...Ng1.

McShane is now 2-0 in this tournament with both wins against very strong GMs. A very good showing so far for this player.

   Here is the game:

Ok, now for the player I have gained an utmost respect for during the first two games of the tournament: Hikaru Nakamura. After a long, grueling draw yesterday against World Champion Vishy Anand, Naka again shows off his brilliance by defeating another World Champion, Vladimir Kramnik, who bowed out after 54...Kg4, after a Nimzo-Indian opening. Naka has to be feeling awesome after this win today and he has the most  momentum going into the 3rd Round.

   And the game is here:

Finally, we have David Howell(W) vs. Anand(B) in a Sicilian Moscow Variation with 3...Bd7. After 50...Qxd5, both players agreed to a draw. World Champion Anand has had two long draws in two games, possibly games he should've won.

   The game is below:

It's turning out to be a very interesting tournament. With some surprises and an upset here and there, it's really anybody's even at this point.

I am going to put up the 3rd round pairings and starting time in the next post. Enjoy!!  Cool
