Players will be grouped by rating order (1-8, 9-16, etc.). The tournament committee reserves the right to minimally alter the grouping format on a need to do basis for the fair and efficient maintenance of the tournament, e.g., if only 15 players were to sign up to play, we would have to have one group of 7 in which the lowest rated participant would have to be given a full point bye.

Players must have a valid USCF membership that is active to the final date of the tournament.

Bye policy: Only one 1/2 point bye will be allowed in either Round 2 or Round 3 (No 1/2 point byes can be had in the first round of this tournament). Such bye requests are irrevocable, i.e., once a bye is requested, there is no changing of the bye request even if one is available to play that particular evening. If that situation were to come about, it would be possible that an "extra rated game" may be arranged. The result of such a game would not affect one`s score in the tournament. Such games would just be added to the rating report that would be sent in to the USCF in a separate section.

For more information on this event, you may call head tournament director John Hagerty at 973-736-3433 between 10:00 AM and 10:00 PM and leave a message or email him at: buickchess@gmail.com.

On June 27th, we are having a kids tournament and our focus will have to be on the kids as far as dedicating our boards, sets, scoresheets and clocks. Nevertheless, the club will be an "open night" for the "regulars". The club will be closed on July 4th for the National Holiday.
