But I didn't close my account because I was muted. It was only for 24 hours anyway.
First of all it's sort of a habit. I seem to never keep an account open for more than a few months. I usually close my account in disgust for how much time I spend on the site, then since I'm basically addicted, I make a new account and come right back.
Secondly, kibi and colby did have something to do with it... but probably not in the way you think. I know some people were interested in all that drama, but even though I seemed to be at the center of it (with kibi) I always felt like a spectator. I didn't really care. Kibi chose me at random, and hyped it up over and over... but I never cared one way or another. Making a new account gives a fresh break, if only symbolically. I don't want to be so closely associated with that part of chess.com (the trolls and kids).
I am not doing well and kind of want to forget but should I close my account or not?
--- Well you could do one of three things: a) you could close your account and leave; b) you could stay and carry on playing; c) you could keep your account but take a month or two off and then see how you feel when you return.
