I'm leaving - Enough is enough

I had enough.
I'm making stupid mistake and can't see basic winning combinations and it's killing me.
Taking breaks, solving puzzles bla bla bla... doesn't help.
I can have a long game in which I win after long struggle and then getting mated in 8 fu#### moves.
I guess I'm not built for this.
I hoped to be better but I guess it's a lost cause.
Maybe I should have invested in chess when I was younger but then again, I never had the talent at young age like I see from many players here.
But you should not quit but keep up the good work.
I give up and so I quit.
So long.

I hear ya. Seriously, as passionate as I am about chess, even I get lingering thoughts to quitting such as now on literally a -100 rapid rating downswing on chess.com (More or less losing 50 points the 1st day, 30 the 2nd and now 20 more points lost today).
I'm just missing so many things I recognize mid-game and ironically my puzzles rating is close to the best I've ever had it, so puzzles probably isn't the answer. I don't want to turn this thread into about me though.
Look, no one said chess was easy. Another problem is that by mostly playing players around our rating (or slightly better), it is easy to lose perspective of just how much chess we've learned and improved. Rating can become "the grass is always greener" if we can't step back and see the big picture of our chess journey and progress. I honestly don't know if you need a little break from chess @quizhead but your 1600+ chess.com rating I see displays just how far you've come. If you check your global percentile on chess.com stats, I'm sure you'll recognize just HOW GOOD even this rating is.
In the meantime, here are some things you may be interested to check out:
This one is a blog post I wrote the last time I lost a lot of rating https://www.chess.com/blog/KeSetoKaiba/dropped-more-chess-rating
Hopefully this thread you'll relate with:

Here is something to illustrate how even top players (even if most of the clips are Levy) suffer from this:
Good luck with your chess journey and hopefully we both can recover down the road. I didn't expect to lose so much lately, either, but then again...
