Depends on what you call toxic. To me, most of what has been produced in this thread as an example of toxicity is nothing more than pettiness. Toxicity, IMO, is something like the Protocols of the Elders of Zion - something which is genuinely poisonous and has far reaching real world implications. Someone bragging about their rating on a chess website is just plain silly. Silly little person. But to be hurt or offended by it is almost (but not quite, because I can understand that it can be irritating, especially if you're a younger person) equally petty, really.
