no, apparently @st0ckfish is around 13.
Incredible toxicity in the chess community

Shooting games don't induce violence any more than an action scene in a book or movie. Shooting games have as much to do with violence as chess has to do with medieval warfare (nothing other than a setting).

Books force you to use more of your imagination and are slow enough that you have a long time to mediate on the ideas therein. A video game is forgotten as quickly as it was found interesting. Ideas found in books change the world. No one cares about video games except children.
See I can be just as specious and moronic.

Wait, there a competition going on and nobody told the bunny? Nobody's more moronic than the morose bunny.

We'll show them who is the MASTER of the moronic remark!

I wouldnt feel too bad - chess forums have been awful ever since the internet was invented. What could be an opportunity to share knowledge and grow our own understanding of the game is replaced by petty bickering, slander and pedantics.
I mean, have you ever seen any post that even verges on being helpful regarding actual chess - whenever anyone asks about openings, improving tactical play or endings you are either met with the standard toxic lines like "study books and get good" or "stockfish says it is -0.05 for black so the whole position is trash and never to be trusted" or simply silence.
If I were in charge I would ban so many players from the forums I might only have a few hundred left, but the quality of posts would be so worth it !

You know chess is a strategic game about war and killing right? you take a pawn as in you absolutely kill that unit and spit on his corpse and forcing a king to surrender after killing most of his people. Why complain about "toxicity", How can you even be toxic in chess lmao
@philippethermes "Weak ELO players are wrong because they are weak. Strong players are right in advance because they are strong. there is no concept of equal rights on this site. in French chess sites, we are free and equal IN RIGHTS!" tf are you on about? are you high?

all chessplayers are equal, but some are more equal than others.
Yeah, the half of the site running engines during their games...

lol, I was talking about the elo hierarchy.

"What could be an opportunity to share knowledge and grow our own understanding of the game is replaced by petty bickering, slander and pedantics". I feel the same way about television. What could have been an incredibly educational tool is turned into 37 million commercials and then 3 mins of "America's Stupidest Videos".

Or politics.
Don't get me started on that!
Beginners and intermediates can barely ask questions without being attacked for their skill or mistakes. As far as I'm concerned this is the absolute worst community I've ever seen and I wish it wasn't because I love chess
I've very rarely seen this, can you give an example?
I tend to think it's more the opposite. The ridiculous and low level of the discussions on the forums tends to drive away anyone who actually knows and enjoys talking about chess.
Since I asked you for an example, here's one from me to characterize the forums as just a lighthearted group of kids who don't talk about chess in any case:

Exactly, too many 9 year olds
