LOL RONALD!
Is chess.com safe for children?
my opinion: ive seen people post forums called "how long is your thing?" and the comments made references to very inappropiate content(it wasnt showed, but referenced) despite the fact the poster was talking about tactics trainer, so in my opinion, dont let the kids get online to forums, because the right people can make the right kids wrong.
ok, so
I don't understand
what is the danger, exactly?
why isn't blocking people from a kids wall good enough??
I'm surprised that you need to ask. The #1 reason is sexual predators. #2 Cyber bullies. #3 Hate-speech. #4 Obscene words and images. #5 Phishing for parents' credit card numbers.
(By "obscene" I mean words or images that glorify cruelty or promiscuity.)
At this point someone usually asks "why shield children from reality?". The answer: to allow them to remain innocent for a little while longer (they will have plenty of "opportunities" to be corrupted and demeaned in high school). Remember, I'm talking about pre-adolescent children, not 16-year-olds. I think preserving young childrens' innocence for a few more years is well worth the effort.
Common sense, well articulated by Coach_Leo....
I haven't been born yet.As a fetus, I can declare I feel perfectly safe playing and chatting on this site. If,however, you have any doubts as to the safety of this site, you should contact "help and support" and express your concerns and seek their input.
sure it is, but only if they can play blindfold, with me obviously, I don't think kaynight's IQ can handle the stress, therefore I'm here to give a hand or should I say a brain

Reply | Delete | Block- The only comments on my wall and this is after some of the notes got auto-deleted for language. I'd say no, but i believe there's a kid's version of chess.com, so that'd hopefully be more kid friendly. The only time anybody ever uses chat is to troll. Nothing positive ever comes from chat.
All small mammals, and many larger ones as well, welcome the special input of undead rabbits. It is an unfortunate fact, however, that the declarations of undead bunnys often fail to generate that special excitement created by the proclomations given by undead rhinos,elephants,and...dare we say...Tyrannosaurs.Still,the wise know that when the undead bunny appears,in all of its gaunt and ghostly splendor...it's best to listen.

People who consistently get notes on their wall like this usually get them for a reason.
This thread needs to be locked, I see no difference between this thread and a thread about cheating. It's bad publicity for Chess.com

If this thread is bad publicity, do you think it's because the safety concerns are exaggerated, or because they are legitimate (and should be swept under the rug), or because of some other reason? Children's safety is a sincere concern for most parents, as it should be. Imagine the impression that parents would get if they were told not to ask about it.

Nice. So why not say the same thing about cheating? Why is that considered bad publicity? Are those concerns exaggerated? Or because they are legitimate (and should be swept under the rug), or because of some other reason?
there are ways to monitor your child on chess.com and the forums they use. Just look on the recently visited forums thing on the bottom of your home page and scroll through them.
