Randomly came across this. This is 6 years later... Did you ever go back? Also, what rating would you say their level of play was?

I once had a similar experience, when our city chess club sent a team to Folsom Prison. Several things happened that surprised me, and that I will never forget. Perhaps I should write the story and share it here. For one thing, we didn't play in a controlled space, one guard just walked us through the yard (basketball yes, and boxing) and we played in the adjoining cafeteria.

I think the prisoners at San Quentin are more RISK convicts . . .
Please write the story I'd love to read it . . .

I wouldn't mind going back for another match . . .
But chess clubs are scarce now days in California . . .
