We should say good game when we start a game or eventually at the end if i was really a good game
Nobody says "Good Game" anymore!

It's simple... There are few who play for the beauty of the game itself, knowledge and knightly competition...
Mostly it is played only to win at any cost, not for chess... You can see that, and among them, let's call them top players, but in fact they are just speculators, as Bobby Fischer himself said about the top players of the time.
Which is also reflected in the lower rated players. There are no more romantic games, beautiful ideas, instructive games because the main idea is not to lose at all costs! And let's not lie, there are also game fixing, cheating and various speculations.
Therefore, what to expect from the very corruption of the game? Chess is not to blame, those who represent the elite are the creators of it. They are chasing green bills, profit above all else! The current champion is a shame for the world of chess. These are not people who are gifted and love chess, but they are looking for an escape from misery and poverty, where their parents sold them, if not their souls, in order to cash in on their children! We see a galaxy of supposedly gifted gypsies who play, shame, everything by force, in their games there is no ease of play, beauty, enjoyment, victory is their only way out, and chess is a means to achieve that goal.

I miss people saying GG in matches but we changed it up to people being in their feelings when losing.

Your are right about a lot of it. But this thing about 'GG' being negative is among people rated around the same rating I am. Which certainly is not 'elite'. I think that what you are referring to has trickled down from the elite to the rest of the populace. Same as with professional sports all the way down to Little League Baseball. I mentioned this earlier but as small kids part of ANY baseball game was shaking hands after the game with all the players of the other team and telling them "Good game". NOBODY thought that was negatve or 'insincere' because we were taught to appreciate the game itself and the sporting competition. Everybody loves winning but nobody needs to feel bad about losing as long as you DID YOUR BEST. People are being taught that "If you don't cheat, you aren't trying hard enough!" Me, if I had to cheat to win I would look at it as a loss to me of something more important than winning a game.

Younger people are looking for idols, they look at them, let's take Carlsen, who when he greets his opponents, for the sake of order, extends his hand and doesn't look at them?! And, when he says to someone, GG, what to expect from younger people? There is no respect for the players and even less for the game itself.
The tactic of showing up late to a game should result in a instant loss imo, why? because while perhaps your opponent have less a chance of winning he may have waited for the opportunity to play a Magnus all his life for good or ill. Not fan of the dis it implies...
Good game
New form of torture? Tie someone to a chair and tell them 'Good game" until they crack?
