@optimissed Pfren coached players who became titled, even some GM's. I I wouldn't say they are weak. He is a certified FIDE trainer and an IM. He called out nonsense when he seen it and told the truth. And u?

I was feeling a bit annoyed at him at the time because we had some chess related arguments.

I just saw this thread and thought about deleting my negative post.

In the UK there's a bit of a movement among players my strength and a little stronger to develop their own openings. Maybe a lot of GMs these days have a belief that they can overcome positional errors or negatives by means of tactical excellence. However, Kasparov didn't think like that and I don't think Carlsen does either. The point is that what may be suitable for a very tactically minded GM may not be suitable for someone who plays more in the old school way and attempts to play positionally strong moves. Hence in the Sicilian Najdorf, which Kasparov used, he didn't play the modern main lines with e5. He preferred to use the Naj as an entry to Sheveningen positions with e6. That is exactly how I've been using the O'Kelly Sicilian, by playing e6, even though many GMs think e5 should be played.

Why on earth are you posting in a thread last seen 5 year ago?

.

You beat me to it. I was just going to ask "why are you?"

Because Pfren got away with what he wrote 5 years ago and no one checked what he wrote?

Infact he did not write much just some off the top of his head rant about TARBCS,which is what he is known for doing!

Now we have better ways of checking what people wrote, and more important ways of checking if games are genuine!

So I have to ask you why did you look at and post in a thread you knew was 5 years old? or are you after some Pfren publicity

I didn’t know it was 5 years old. Your comment brought it to the top of the list, I clicked on it and was like “What? this post is v old.” I then saw your comment was a reply to a 5 year old comment.

Your account didn’t even exist when this thread was started so no idea what you re talking about or why you’d spam some old thread with this stuff.

I ended up liking him tbh. Don't know about"fan".

I certainly think that the forums are for posting on. What else are they for?

Ah! the Old Spam trick! (Trying to give a reason for me posting) so now we know your a Pfren fan

TARBCS has been around since (1983) so it's nothing to do with when a thread is made,it's about who it concerns!

I have no idea what you are talking about or why you are resurrecting such an old thread.

These forums are bonkers

Mike Surtees from Bolton is bringing out a chess book. It isn't normal for someone who's never been much higher than 2200 FIDE to write a book but this is the new theory he's been playing for decades. Some of us helpeed him.

The problem with rigid systems is that it can be hard to win with them. The number of draws that Francis bot gets against me is huge. The number of my wins is very small especially as it seems to learn as it plays.

The Truth! hurts doesn't it DrSpudnik if I remember you are just as negative about The A.R.B Chess System as Pfren, the only difference between the two of you is that one is rated (regarding normal chess) ?
You both have to understand that Deep Chess is far more complicated than Black & White Tactical calculations,TARBCS is based on a Deep Strategy System way beyond the Engines rule based NNUE or any other rule of thumb method!

You only have to look at some of the game examples played using TARBCS to see the score for the positions goes from +1 or +2 to +4 etc. to -1 or -2 to -4 etc. in favour of TARBCS

I'm not entirely sure what "truth" hurts or why it hurts. Not too sure what this TARBCS system is either. Is it this stuff:

Arguably, chess is also bonkers. My wife probably thinks so. She's a retired psychotherapist. Chess is good therapy and helps me stay mentally active at 193.

You must be suffering from Oldtimers DrSpudnik you have posted on nearly every thread on Chess.com related to The A.R.B Chess System

For anyone that realy does not know what TARBCS is, here are the main system games complete apart from the bulk of games on lichess as there are too many for a thread, and would take too long to post!

The A.R.B Chess System - Games Complete

https://www.chess.com/forum/view/general/the-a-r-b-chess-system-games-complete

Apparently, this ARB system made such an impression on me that I really don't recall having posted on such forum threads or even the threads themselves. A link to a post of mine would be appreciated.

It's a hippopotamus. Important for white to smash up the centre early. Mike surtees' system is much more subtle. Again, it consists of a high number of pawn moves and the idea that bishops are strongest on their original squares. So they are already developed.

TARBCS, by @pfren's logic, is then The Applied Random Bull Crap/5h1t?

There's a community? Is it all sock puppets?
