Points

You know on your profile page there is a section that says points. How do u get them?

It's activity points for posting in the forum or blogging.

It is left over from the early days of the site.

I have points, just joined 2 months ago.

What is the purpose for these "points".

The only purpose is that they show how socially active you are.

The more important question is:

why would you did up a 2-year-old dead thread about a feature that has been already removed?

I believe they're still being tracked for achievements, just not visible anywhere.
