checks whether u have multiple accs on the same device??

Seems to me that you have no clue what an IP address is , because if you knew what it is you wouldnt be asking this

Staff will check your IP address to see if any other accounts from that address have been made.

Actually there's no issue with multiple accounts created with the same IP since there can be family members using the same device. I remember a mod telling me this. The issue only arises when you play those accounts against each other

Wrong. You cannot have more than 1 account, unless you actually notify staff that another account is being made because a family member is playing on the site as well.

Other than that, and some streamers and mods having 2 accounts, it's not allowed at all.

google says dat it is a unique code for any internet-connected device.

so um it will check whether 2 accs have same ip address, if yes, do they play against each other.

right?

You are partly wrong. This was confirmed by a mod.

IsraeliGal

Go ask any mod. you can't have multiple accounts open unless you have a special circumstance, like being a streamer or a mod. You can ask any to respond here. Unless they've changed the TOS recently, you can't have another account unless your circumstance is special.

Anyway even if you are right, your points irrelevant because the OP said they played with said other account, so if it is them, even under your assumption they're in breach of the rules.

Anonymous_Dragon

You are mixing up two different things . Two different accounts created from the same IP address doesn't necessarily translate to one person creating both of them . That being said , an individual is certainly not allowed to open multiple accounts but there's no way the site could determine if he's violating that rule just with the limited information of two accounts existing within the same device. And if chess.com really did that , there would be a million more bans every month which would include my cousin's account as well as mine .

I could be wrong as well. But meh who cares .

I know my point is irrelevant to the case that the OP mentioned . I was just responding to #16. By the way the other account isn't the OP himself. Its just that he was wrongly accused.

IsraeliGal

i didnt say it translates to one person, im saying regardless if you make it, or your family member makes it, its not allowed unless you have expressed permission from staff.

PoisonedPawndScum

who would play 10 games against a 400 level player????

Not sure if that's actually implemented

I think the league rules say you only get points by playing a rated game through the matchmaking system. How would one farm points from someone rated well below them?

Need to play in open tournaments. Especially arenas .

I mean, same. Arenas don't usually have you play someone rated well below you _and_ let you play them multiple times in a row. grin.png

Oh yeah that's true . I guess there's something that's need to be done behind the scene 😉

Can you point to where that is?  I was looking for ir in the User Agreement and did not see it.

I know families with multiple chess-players living in the same household and may not have had any inkling that permission might be needed so that each of players could have their own account.
