Haven't seen it, but my two friends watch that show and they were inspired to play chess when I met them. And I was like 'yeaaaaa that game exists and it's cool, let's play it somewhere'

I learned chess as a child but hadn't played in years. After watching Queen's gambit I was all fired up to start playing again - chess.com is great, I'm really enjoying the lessons and challenges. Maybe after a while I'll pluck up courage to play against real people :-)

Great topic @Melenda2. First of all welcome to all our new members who joined us thanks to the Netflix serie 'The Queens Gambit'. You know what? We've got a surprise for all our Beth Harmon fans, you can now play against her at different ages and stages of her chess career. Check out this article https://www.chess.com/news/view/play-beth-harmon and make sure you hit the orange button to play against her.

Depends on how you define nerds.

There are lots of kinds of nerds. Certain activities get classified as nerd activities. Being part of the band and playing chess are two such activities.

In my circle we define nerds as those who always engage themselves into something that demands enormous intellectual input and never waste a single minute in playing games or indulging in any leisure activity.

I don't have Netflix but I've loved chess ever since I was a kid. I've never been very good but I'll always love the game.
