I know a lot of people don't like this set but I do. Except I can't seem to pull the trigger on that price.

Well. Someone finally made a copy of it that is more affordable, but I haven't heard of these guys before so I'm a bit wary.

Has anyone had any experience dealing with "Royal chess Mall". Better yet, has anyone bought this reproduction from them?

Hi, I saw the chess set you mentioned in ebay but, according to the official FIDE chess piece sizes, there are slight variations vs. this reproduction's. I was wondering as well if -considering this is a reproduction- it is worth its price.

I bought last year a chess set from Chess bazaar and out of curiosity, I asked them if they carried a reproduction of the Ofiicial FIDE chess set and they happened to do so (even though they do not openly advertise it in their page, I haven't been able to find it). They even sent me some pictures and they looked good, though they sell the set for US$ 200. The ebay set sells for US$ 116 and both vendors are Indian.

My experience with Chess Bazaar is good, so I think I might be thinking over buying their reproduction in the future, I'm out of budget now. I read some customer feedback in ebay about the Royal Chess Mall set and some people complain about the quality, this could be related to its relatively low price.

These are just my thoughts. Can any one please provide feedback on these 2 Indian reproductions ?

The official set is quite nice and worth the price, imho. I think the copy misses the mark by quite a bit to my eyes. It's really not even a good "homage" set. But ymmv...

Anyone knows where to find the Official FIDE set ? Not sure of the set in the pictures but the official FIDE set I have (couple years old) does have extra queens. Box with sleeve looks the same but in mine the extra queens are one on each side end, centered. The box has foam on the bottom with cut outs for each piece, snugly fit.

I had them out through the Candidates Tournament to play through some of the games and they handle very well. One of my favorite sets right now.

Pulled it out of the 'bay, international seller, UK... don't recall the price. Couple hundred bucks I think. It was lightly used but had all the papers, foam and bubble-wrap, etc.

FYI - I just asked Chess Baron if the FIDE set they carry had extra queens, and it DOES

To me, it seems like a good deal @ US $295
