I never cared for plastic, but I have to say you really have to look hard to see if they are plastic unlike the ones from the past. These still have a slight seam and from a far that would be the tell.
They make a cost-effective way to play the game on a budget. I used to not like plastic sets. Especially one with a thick seam and poorly weighted. This set I weighted and stained the color I liked. I don't have to worry about my $300.00 set getting battle scars at a club or in the park. Surprisingly they have a good feel. By the way that is my budget cigar chess box.

Really Superb!

How long did it take to complete? What did you use to add weight? Is that a Colorado wood worker board?

I bought them custom made from a guy on Etsy's. $40.00 I used bird shot and hot glue to weight them. I also use leather dye to get the color I wanted then clear coated them. Yes, that is CO Wood Worker board. I forgot what he calls them. It is a 4 sectioned board with magnets that connects them together and is stackable.
