Very cool 9... Gotta love those Bishop hats. Looks like a good player. Something about the thin knights I like when picking them up to move or capture similar to the Dubrovies thinness... Know ya know what I mean... Wonder if it was a HOS... Ebony looks great too...
80's Zagreb Chess Set

Thanks Robb.. They are nice & its hard to get jet black ebony these days without paying a lot. The board is 2 3/8 inches & I don't remember where I got it. Its a veener board & as you can see its like the day I bought it.! So much for the anti veneer crowd.

Nice set Frank, what's the height of the kings and their diameter base?
Thanks Mike.! The Kings are 4 inches tall with slightly under 1 3/4 inch base on a 2 3/8 board. The newer Zagreb versions are pathetic compared to these pieces. I don't know why they decided to top the Kings & Queens as well as the Bishops. Looks real bad & confusing if you ask me.! I would never buy the new version Zagreb pieces.
Here are some pic's of my Zagreb set in Ebony & Boxwood with 4 inch King. I don't remember if I bought it from HOS or some other place. It is very nice though IMO.
