You evidently read a lot but don't play. Why is that? One of the things people do is to look at the rating of the person making a recommendation. It helps to judge if the books are suitable for beginners or experts. Your comments on the books, such as which is your favorite or which taught you the most could also be useful.

Not everyone who posts in the forums is active in the various player pools here.

I agree. Being inactive here doesn't mean being inactive in real life.

It doesn't matter for you. You are stuck with the books.

I just meant that since you don't play here at all, no one can use your rating to make a judgment about the appropriateness of the books by measuring their level against yours.

You haven't even read any of the books, so your recommendation carries no value in that way. That is very unusual about your "list of recommended books".  Almost all people who make recommendations have actually read some of the books and offer their opinions on them.

The people who might want to consider buying these books will want to make their own judgments.  They will consider:

1) You have no rating

2) You haven't read any of the books

and draw their own conclusions.

I bought this collection quite recently after months of searching and getting advice, I put it here in order to save others that time & effort. Insha' Allah I'll write a detailed post about each one of them when I finish reading it.

As for why I don't play here, it's because I think it's better to focus now on learning & playing against computer as a training until I feel that my level is good enough to start.

How are you supposed to improve if you dont play?

More importantly...Why are you playing a computer, but you dont think youre good enough to play people?

Lastly...Youre reccommending books you havent even read.

@notmtwain I understood what you said the first time you did say it Sir & I'm not saying that you're wrong. About a year ago I didn't even know of the mere existence of most of these books on the list, and it took me months of searching and consulting to be able to select them from the hundreds of available Chess books. I put them here to save others that time and effort, and my recommendation comes from my experience with books rather than with Chess. I have been collecting books about differrent fields of knowledge for more than ten years, enough time to make me able to tell a good book from a bad one only by looking through it.

Afterall I didn't post this list for people to say "Oh! This genius recommends these books so they must be great." But rather to say "Someone says that these books are good, let's check them out."

@ Diakonia I didn't say that I don't play at all, I said that I don't want to start playing HERE now, and I play against computer as a training not as playing real games.

As I said in my last comment: My recommendation comes from my experience with books rather than with Chess.

Lastly, it's people's choice to trust a recommendation or not, whether it's done by a novice or by a World Champion.

@ylblai2 Thanks so much for your recommendations Cool your comments have been always helpful to me.

Cool. Do you know online sites where to buy good chess books in Arabic language? Not much there on amazon I am afraid.

Thanks :) I know only neelwafurat.com but I have no experience with buying from it. There are many good Chess books in Arabic on this list:

Wow! Thanks a lot. That site looks great!

What are you learning playing against a computer?

Have you read any of the books youre recommending?

I'm learning how to play without relying on the psychological side of the opponent, without relying on that he will be surprised or bluffed or unable to play good without having a certain piece, and when I lose I undo the move which I believe it was the start of my loss & try another one in order to see what would have been the best move under such conditions.

As I said before: I haven't read any of these books, only looked through them, and that's enough for me to say that they are good. Such reading is necessary for a detailed review and I'll will write a detailed review about each book after finishing it insha' Allah.

I guess it's not very useful to the people who might read this thread to find it full of talking about myself, so let's agree that if you find this post useful & you're willing to check these books out: Good, and if you find this post nonesense and you're not willing to check these books out because of a nonsensical recommendation: No problem.
