Anyone who has a rating of 2000+ is very advanced, right?

Rating is all relative. Compared to titled players, no amateur is really "very advanced." It really depends on what people compare to. Here's a guideline based on statistics (global percentile).

- Global average rating is around 700. It typically fluctuates between 600-800 range, but this is where about half the chess players in the world are higher rated than this and about half the chess players in the world are lower rated than this.

- 1200 is roughly the average for in-person if you remove scholastic players and players who identify as learning, or beginners.

- 1600 is roughly average in most chess clubs (in-person)

- 1800 is roughly average at stronger chess clubs (such as in larger cities)

My opinion is that anything 1500 or higher is kind of advanced already and certainly anything 1800 or higher is advanced. I believe most people agree 2000 or higher is advanced, but it really varies on who you ask.
