A new "custom" addition arrival.

My custom order arrived this evening in very good shape, no issues with the delivery whatsoever as in past deliveries. CB did a great job reproducing a set from a single photo I had sent them to construct and although it was a bit lengthy in lead time completion the end result was work the wait. I gave them a reference name of Mezquite-Sacred Fir. México which is made of sheesham and boxwood with kingside stamping. The whole set impressed me with the heft of the pieces. One very nice aspect I liked is that the carvers/design team had crafted the knights out of one solid piece of wood stock and they are stout. I've included a photo of the original photo I've sent and the set they crafted for me. Great Job Chessbazaar. You made my evening.

Nice. I like the Knights. What size is the K?

The king measures 3.75" in height and 1 & 5/8th inches at the base diameter. The style of the knights, queens and bishops drew me to this set as well.

Very nice set Q. Interesting, (white?), king side stamp on the dark pieces.  Was that originally like that or did you request that over the traditional red?

Thanks Magic it works well for blitz play, rugged and weighted nicely not too light or heavy. The pieces are stout it's the reason I had be very adamant about getting the bigger Ultimate styled pawns. As you can see with the heft of the other major pieces it accents the set very well overall. KP, I had requested white stamping because of the contrasting. Red would fade into the sheesham since it has reddish overtones in the grain and would sort of blend in with the red stamped king symbol. I suffer from vision loss and I need all the help I can get so this is the main reason for my choosing of white to help identifying with sharper contrast. The symbol itself is rather small and again I will need as much help as possible with the difficulties of my low vision. I'm quite pleased with this set and it may be available for sale someday on their website but with different styled pawns not the Ultimates as in my set. FYI.

Quite, although it was first labeled as being from Mexican origin I do see many elements from Russian style pieces. The knights, bishops and queens in particular.

I can not believe it. Chessbazaar copying a Mexican model? I knew the day would come.

It was I who took that picture and heck, this news really amazes me.

I like it! Love the looks of every piece. Minus the King stamping but that is just my personal taste. The Bishops remind me of those old time string top toys. happy.png Love those fat Knights and the Pawns from the Ultimate Chess Pieces. goes very well.

I just wanted to see if they could replicate the set from your photo RobertoLM. This is a custom order, I believe, will not be on their regular sales lineup unless they change their minds to do so. Thank you for providing this forum many cool photos of the sets you come across in your native land. All the best. Happy Thanksgiving. Jorge.

Thank you KFC, the reason behind I had asked CB to put kingside stamping on the rooks and knights was to help me annotate. My vision has been declining over the years and I need all of the help needed at my disposal. I thought the same for the knights and pawns. It only seemed a natural fit to have thicker bodied pawns for the heft of the set. Much appreciated Happy Thanksgiving Sir. Jorge.
