I don't know if you saw my response in your other post, so here it goes again. Craiglist has been good to me especially since it is free to post. Another thing you might try is google local chess clubs and tournaments and make fliers to post there. Good luck.

Local chess clubs is a good one. Why didnt i think of that. Craigslist has only provided me with spam this time. it usually works but i live in a small city with very few chess players, Somebody deleted my other post sorry about that.

I was warned not to advertise, even though I was just looking for advice CajunCharlie. I have advertised at the local chess club, but this isnt a huge area I live in and even craigslist is a small local one.
Maybe this site needs a marketplace forum, that'd be cool.
Still no luck guys :/ Craigslist came up with some idiotic offers and lots of spam. I will be donating it to charity if I run out of time, even though I am broke. I would rather give it to someone in need than to a greedy person for 25% of its worth.

I probably made this same comment in your original post, but I'm surprised You had no luck on Ebay. There are a ton of expensive sets on there and what is seemingly a very active collector community that is buying them. Pity it didn't work out for you. You could try an auction house, but they typically take 40% or so for themselves.

I think he ended up actually selling on ebay for $1300 or so. Maybe you should try again ebay. The holidays is probably a good time for selling. Cheers.
Does anyone know of a website that specializes in selling chess sets or other antiques to the chess playing community. I have tried ebay, amazon and Craigslist and I would be taking a 60% loss on those sites as the only people who buy things there have no idea of the value of something like this. Advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)
