Great! So, shall we play 'moves per message' as by your original post?
Looking forward to our game 'over the boards'

Looking forward to our game 'over the boards'
I was going to jump in with my recent "mid-year crisis" purchases of Noj Dubrovnik II + Kimbo Leather Board but was scared off a bit by your rating ... I was actually hoping @Krames would challenge you! Look forward to the photos - please take a bunch.
lotsoblots! I remember you brought in the use of pen and paper when you played.. the first of all of the games on this thread! With Krames. I'd like to play this way now, via messages, recording the games ourselves.
I once had a small circle of friends playing chess on a weekly basis, we tried. Often, there were three of us, and we solved it by playing on three boards sitting in a triangle. I'd like to invite you and Krames to sit in a virtual triangle here: Three players, each getting one black and one white game, playing in parallel.. only that we use six boards instead of three.
The cool thing about not using a virtual board to transmit the moves is that we just cannot make exceptions and will play all moves on the real boards. Like in the old days of "Fernschach", as I imagine it, with a ritual sitting down at the home board. It is nothing for in between, like on a mobile it can be.
So, what do you think, are you in?
That sounds like a fun time. I've played in shogi (japanese chess) club meetings that only had three members and we just rotated matches so each person got 2 games in a morning. We never even *thought* to get multiple games going at once!
I am in for the future, but maybe not right at the moment since I don't think I can dedicate enough time to do it justice, what with other things going on. If I remember correctly from the last time, I was taking 20+ minutes per move on most of the positions vs Krames and I'd never get any work done with multiple games like that running!
Ah, that is a true hatch in correspondence chess: No opponent means you have to take care of time management all alone! I went so far as to use a stopwatch. When that felt silly, I concluded my correspondence career. But we are a-changing.. and so we always can try if we are faring better now. So, thank you and: anytime!
-Shogi! Very tough. I played one three hour game of shogi as an introduction to the game offered by a chess friend. All pieces just scripture and direction, no different colours, only slope of the rectangles for an extra cue.. Pawns not capturing diagonally. Knights not going backwards. The complementary (?) golden and silver generals to mix up. And this never ending march of the taken pieces into the arsenal and onto the board again. The dust just never seemed to settle in shogi, until my friend put together mercy with a powerful mate.
Tuesdays and Wednesdays my pics will be on the office setup, I'll change it up at home. For now, we have a Dutch . . . No Leningrad w the early e6, classical or stonewall . . .?
Opening variations or their names need more memory than I have, or at least mine did not open up to openings, yet. So I am looking forward to being lead into the lines by a more experienced player with a touch for openings like you, Krames! So far our pieces look harmless and fine, but that will soon change, I fear
I LOVE openings!!!!!!! This is shaping up as a pretty standard stonewall dutch.
sending my next move now . . .
My last move was 5...be7
These pieces are from Oldest, an 'Averbakh' design, on a green folding vinyl board 55mm squares
Wow Krames! Talk about lowering the blood pressure with such a gorgeous and relaxing view.
Love that set btw.
I spend a lot of my 'work from home' time at this table . . .
Lovely outlook and set up. 👍
I'd be happy to play
