Antique Jaques chess set-worth it and who to restore?

That's an amazing set! I can very highly recommend Ron Fromkin at The Japanese Repository. Excellent work at a very reasonable cost.

It's always good to do your own homework, when it comes to buying Jaques antique sets .
Ai is just the new form of plagiarism ? As for the set it's very nice . guess was not cheap !
As for restorations , Can check out bobbin boy , on face book , Alan Dewey is the best .

Lol! Don’t get me started on AI—but I agree!
Thanks for the resources. I know Alan Dewey has been regarded as the best-I wasn’t sure he was still restoring but will see if I can contact him.
Hello-
I have what I believe is a ca. 1860 Jaques ‘drop jaw’ Anderssen set. The kings are 3.5”, pieces are felted and weighted. White king stamped Jaques London and crown markings to king side rooks and knights. Sadly the set is missing its box and has sustained some damage but is otherwise in pretty good shape.
Who is recommended for restorations these days? The white king needs a new cross, there is a small split in one black knight, one bishop needs work to the mitre, and the queens coronets are damaged (maybe beyond repair?)
Thanks in advance! Do I also have the set type correctly identified?
kindly,
justin
