Hi everyone I am looking for a chess set on amazon but I don't know what to trust. I recently got a magnetic chess set from amazon but it came with two black kings! Can anybody recommend a good chess set to buy on amazon? My mother refuses to buy from any website other then amazon

The Ultimate Chess Pieces are pretty reliable.
And available on Amazon. $49.99.

Interesting, I didn't realize ACE sold the (highly recommended) ultimate chess pieces through amazon. Nice!

Me personally I refuse to go through amazon for chess equipment. However if amazon is the only place your mom will shop. The Ultimate Chess Pieces is the best you will find on amazon in that price range.

House of Staunton is a vendor there as well. They sell various plastic sets.
Also house of chess another highly respected seller uses Amazon pay.

My first ever chess set is the ASNEY Amazon chess set and it was good shape for about 3 years. The next one is Jaques of London it’s really good but I accidentally broke it after like 1 years. I only have one not on amazon rn and I barely use it cuz of chess.com but if your mum really doesn’t let you buy from other stores then buy the Asney or Jaques of London. If you can though, try to persuade your mum to a good quality chess set from a private chess maker who only makes chess stuff etc.

Hmm nice necrobump...

The A&A Chess set is a very nice set (I have it and I use it constantly, replacing my cheaper, lighter house of staunton plastic set). The weights are stable and perfectly balanced, the felt is nice, and the piece design is pleasing to look at. The newest version of this set also removed the company logo from the top of the rooks, which I very much appreciate (i've never liked seeing someone's insignia on a piece).

I'd rate the set as a perfect 5 out of 5 stars.

The board, well...it's a hybrid material, like a mix between silicon and another material, so the pieces can actually slide on the board by pushing them (which can't be done on a silicon board at all), but the board is prone to wrinkles from folding, so it should be kept rolled up somewhere, and not folded like a mousepad board or an actual silicon board, as a crease can become permanent. The pieces are perfect, the board is fine if you can keep creases out (if they get in, they're staying in), and the carrying case and pouches are quite nice.
