It's a very elegant set and I love the fatter rooks. Perhaps if I already had the Dubrovnik Minceta in walnut then I'd be more tempted. As it is though...I don't. So, it's not going to happen for me at this time. It is beautiful though. ![]()
I am tempted. I love the knights and rooks, and I think the flat foot of each piece looks great. I don't think this version is "better or worse" than the BCE 1 or BCE 2, just different but equally beautiful; it's really a question of aesthetic taste and utility (whether you want your BCE to play faster or not). I own a BCE 2 and would love to own a BCE 1 in wood, BCE 1 in kerrock, and this blitz BCE, but unfortunately my funds are not unlimited! I would love to see some detailed comparison photos, especially between the knights (I think I still prefer the beefier original knight).
I am pretty much chess'd out, with regards to acquiring new stuff(for the time being)....but....that is a nice looking set.
I like seeing new/different from the norm sets.Just my 2 cents worth.....God luck.

It’s funny you say that. For the last few weeks I also seem to be done getting new Chess stuff.
@grownupboy Thank you for the link to your website pushing-wood.com. Your interview, review, unboxing video, and photos of the Minceta and BCE sets are top notch content. Best I've seen. And I've seen A LOT.
I noticed the Best Chessmen Ever Blitz pieces are now available for sale:

I'm kind of digging the little changes they made to this set and feel it's better than the original BCE in a lot of ways...
Anybody else tempted?

p.s. I interviewed Gregor and asked him a few questions about the new design. That article is up over at pushing-wood if you're interested!
