I contacted Mikhail early this year to discuss his products. His chess set and Knight is an all original form he designed and turned in his workshop. He was still tweaking the design when we last spoke. It looks like it's final now and available for sale. He was very personable and well spoken (in English). I saw that set Pawnerai....Comes with a super looking box and amazing board.....Not cheap,but well priced,imo.
I have the hots for a really nice end grain board,but besides the prices,I'm worried about the weight......I display my sets on a glass topped coffee table in my chess/ hobby room.
Thought about possibly putting an acrylic piece under the board,which would stick out far enough to make contact with the metal end rails on the table top.That would work great and be completely invisible,yet add another $90.00 to the price....Then,I begin to wonder if it's all worth it.
MTM had a gorgeous board on sale for $451.00 two weeks ago and I kept eyeing it,but it sold to some lucky buyer.It weighed 15 pounds.
Gonna' just let it all play out.
Just curious if any folks have experience with this supplier.He seems to make boards similar to MTM,in the end grain category and they look very well made.
