I am interested in the book "Beating Unusual Chess Defences: 1 e4: Dealing with the Scandinavian, Pirc, Modern, Alekhine and other tricky lines":

Does anyone have the book and knows what lines are recommended?

Looks like it is not published before December.

I'm not sure, but against the Alekhine take the space but don't go crazy, that is what black is trying to do.  Chess Openings for White Explained by Alburt has good reccomendations against all of these lines except he omits some very logical responses for black (in the Alekhine), but I believe that was down at move 15 or so, it shouldn't trouble you too much.

The thing to remember with the Pirc, Modern, and Alekhine is that black is trying to confuse you and get you to push many pawns forward so s/he can target them.  The problem is compounded because you are going to see these lines far less than 1...e5 or 1...c5 so it is difficult to put a lot of time into the best variations as white against these secondary defenses.

the book was just published in late 2011.  Came out out within in the last month in US and 2 months earlier in England.  For the Scandi, I understand they are recommending 3.Nf3 line, instead of 3.Nc3 chasing the Q.   I am not sure what they are recommending against the alekhine.  Probably either the advance or modern, I would imagine.  I am planning to pick up the book soon.  I am a little concerned that white has no advantage in the scandi after 3.Nf3.  Sam Collins also recommends this line and I have given it a try online.  However, when analyzing with engines, I am not sure white maintains any advantage in the line.  The basic premise is not to place a knight in front of the c and d pawns, so that white can create a big pawn center with pawns on c4 and d4.  In my experience, black castles long and the d pawn becomes a weakness for white.  Furthermore black's R is across the white Q and he also has e5 to further undermine the pawn.  It seems like pretty easy play on black's behalf and I kind of feel like white is working just to stay equal.
