Beginner's chess computer

Looking for a beginner's chess computer that isn't tiny tiny. I bought a new one that is so small my eyes cross. Beats the point using that instead of a pc or ipad.

Anything that i can buy on ebay that would be large size but still not too difficult to operate. Some saitek models I've looked at are apparently too hard for beginners (so I read here)

Saitek Misfisto Talking Chess Academy is a decent size and comes with voice annotated lessons covering openings, Mid-game and endgame strategies.

Millennium Orion 2000 (I would assume the current Millennium Chessgenius have retained the tutor function)

It was the Millennium Orion 2000 that got me started on my chess journey.  I had tried a Tandy 1650 and Sega Chess before that but with only knowing how to move the chess pieces, I was constantly losing really badly.

I only bought the Millennium because it said "Chess Tutor" on the box art.  The chess tutor is basic  in that it warns the user of capture threats and mate threats by the computer and also alerts the user to missed opportunity to capture and mate the computer.  The computer has Fun Levels to keep you motivated.

Later I stumbled across the Scisys Mephisto Talking Chess Academy that has 100 lessons ranging from basic to more advanced - all nicely voice annotated.  The computer has a plethora of levels from outright beginner to lower club level.  I have learned a lot from this computer about tactics.

Both computers were bought when the internet wasn't really a thing like it is now so it was a different time.  I would still recommend either one to a beginner who was interested in stand-alone chess computers.

At the time I also bought the book "Playing Computer Chess" by Al Lawrence and Lev Alburt.  It teaches chess fundamentals using chess computers as a back drop.  This approach is quite useful because as a by-product they discuss the issue of over or under estimating the opponent.
