I'm a big fan of red felt. The piece board combination looks great!! 🔥
Bohemia Pieces from ChessBazaar - re-felted in red (photos)

Congrats! Those knights remind me of the Soviet grandmaster set which I really like. The red felt is a nice added bonus.

Website lists them at 900grams(31.74 oz) it seems very lightly weighted for my tastes. Do they play ok?

They feel very good. The king and queen are significantly heavier than the smaller pieces, but I like this. The pawns are 25g however I noticed two of them were only 18g and felt very different. This was bothersome because I could immediately feel the difference in a game when I picked up one of the lighter pawns. I contacted ChessBazaar about this - now technically their warranty only covers cracking, not under-weighted pieces. However they agreed that if I made a new order on the site, they'd add 2 replacement pawns for free (and check they were 25g). So I ordered a chess book and they shipped the 2 heavier pawns with that package. I think this was a reasonable deal and it was good of them to check the replacements.

Looks good. Where did you get the felt?
I bought it in small sheets in a local fabric store. It was called 'stiffened felt'. It has a stiffness close to cardboard and is slightly thicker than soft felt fabric. I cut it into circles with a rotary cutter tool: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/334443927338
Then I glued the felt in place with PVA glue.

That tool looks like a toy but you can't argue with those great results! I may have to try this in the near future. Excellent work.

Yes it looks like a cheap plastic toy, but it does a nice job!

"Stiffened felt" Heh
@conorokane When you say it's close to cardboard, do you mean tissue box/pizza box cardboard where it has some flex to it? Or corrugated cardboard? Is that 2mm thick? 1.5mm?

Similar to pizza box cardboard. You can easily fold it, but it's good for cutting with a blade as it doesn't wrinkle. Here's a video showing what it looks like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCXBkT7a7XU
This is the "Bohemia Staunton Series German Chess Pieces" from ChessBazaar.com in boxwood and ebonized boxwood.
I think the pieces are lovely, but I didn't like the green felts they came with so I cut them off and re-felted them with thick red felt. I think they look very nice like this.
