books for 1000 rating player

Agree with Wolff's book, I've used the original edition. Also good is Simple Chess by Stean . Be careful as there is another book of the same name by another author. Any of Dan Heisman's books would be useful. I have several. For openings a good overview is Understanding the Chess Openings by Sam Collins. Unfortunately this is out-of-print, but is available in Kindle format. I like Pandolfini's Endgame Course as it gives names to many maneuvers, like the underpass . It has a great many typographical errors, but you can find a list of the corrections online. Also you have to supplement it with a more comprehensive work like Fundamental Chess Endings by Muller & Lamprecht.

I second Weapon's of chess. It's a great book that introduces a lot of topics a 1000+ player should know, and it is also massively inexpensive.
