If anyone is interested, I have attached a link to a video I made when making my own walnut and oak chessboard below. Furthermore, the video includes some simple electronics that converts the board into a wireless cabinet lock. When the pieces are in the formation of a scholar's mate checkmate, the board signals to the receiver to power the solenoid which unlock the cabinet.
