cellphone chess game/app

i got tired of my sony ericsson so i'm going out to buy a new cell phone tonight and i was wondering which one i should get for the purpose of playing chess games on it, besides iphone?

also, what would be the best chess game for cellphones and what phone would it be the best platform to play it?

no need to be a phone that already comes with such a chess software if i can download it myself to it.

what does a phone have to support besides java to be able to support a wider range of chess softwares?

do not hesitate in answering it if you don't have much technical info regarding phones: if you just have a phone that enables you to have fun with chess, please tell me what model would that be :)
