My Certabo set just arrived 😊 The board construction is superb, very neat, solid, heavy and top quality. The Da vinci 7” chess computer is also neat, nice and housed in solid black coloured plastic. All in all, I am very satisfied with my purchase of this Certabo set and excited to use them later tonight 😊

@thepatriotbraveheart looks like you're enjoying your new Certabo board. Congrats. Can you share a few more details about it? What the square size, can you take a closer picture of the knight, and last, if you can use it on lichess and here, on chess.com?

I'm a happy user of a DGT e-board, nevertheless I always appreciate and like e-boards in general.

Congrats for joining the large family of the e-boarders! happy

I think I might be falling in love with that board. That's Amore ! And now, it's time to get some serious chess with this "little beauty". Ciao happy

I almost forgot, you can create your own "Avatar UCI engine" from a database of your games:

https://www.avataruci.org/

You can play against yourself !!!!! Awesome ! wink

I share my experience as a new owner of a Certabo Curzio with Russian pieces. Very nice board, made in Ebony and Maple. The pieces are weighted and with a nice design.

With regards to the software, it works flawlessly on a Mac and it offers lots of functionalities (playing online, Maia, analysis, etc.). The only trick to pay attention to if one has a recent Mac is that the Chrome and Firefox drivers required to play through the browser on Lichess and chess.com have to be downloaded via the official repositories, selecting the Apple Silicon versions (in case of processors from M1 onwards). One has to avoid, instead, installations via brew etc.: these install by default the drivers for Intel x86 as opposed to the ones for Apple Silicon, which causes problems.

Finally, I would also like to highlight this super cool project: https://github.com/gkalab/cer2nut . Through a simple ESP32-S3 board, one can get Bluetooth connectivity and integration in all programs supporting chessnut boards, including the chessconnect extension for Chrome (to play on chess.com) and various iOS apps.

So far, I love it happy.png

Seriously considering a Certabo board, after having non-stop problems with Chessnut Air + and interference in my house. A couple questions if anyone knows. If not, I'll contact them directly.

1) I see that Certabo boards use chips with RFID. Does that mean its unlikely I would experience the same type of RF interference I had with ChessNut and even my DGT board?

2) I see there is an Android app. Can you connect the Certabo directly to Android using USB and play on chess.com and lichess? Same question for IOS. I know that IOS typically doesn't support USB devices, so, I'm assuming for IOS the bluetooth kit would work?

Thanks folks

Hey guys,

Annuntio Vobis Gaudium Magnum !!! The new Tabutronic Sentio 45mm is on its way !!!

https://tabutronic.com/product/tabutronic-sentio-45mm-look-walnut-with-wooden-pieces/

Along with wooden pieces (sorry, no BT module at this time, just USB) !!! Oh boy, this is so exciting ! As soon as it gets here, I'll get back to you. Stay tuned !

Kromok2

Ladies and Gents,

There you go ... da new Tabutronic Sentio 45mm with wooden pieces (and embedded magnets) !!!!! Feast your eyes on these "tasty" shots:

Oh My Sweet ... I'm so thrilled !!!!! Ciao wink

KNAVFAR

I have had the Tabutronic Sentio 45mm board for over a month now and the experience so far has been excellent. I had some problems at the start, because you have to place the magnetic figures a little more precisely than with the DGT Pegasus, but once you get used to it, there are no problems. But I also equipped my figures in dimensions for a plate with a square of 45 mm. I used 15mm diameter and 1mm thick neodymium magnets and these pieces work almost better than the originals. In short, I recommend this board to everyone and I know that the application "ChessConnect" will be updated on Android and, in all probability, the author will also add new functions that will further enrich the Tabutronic board and other similar boards. This board also works on the "White Pawn" android application, but via a USB cable, because bluetooth must be purchased separately. Greetings to all.

Robotvinnik

The beta version of the Tabutronic Android app that also works with any Certabo board is now entering its final testing before release. The app will be released with three chess engines, Maia, Stockfish and Avatar.

Kromok2

That's big news @Robotvinnik !!!

Does the Android app work over USB, BT or both ? I tried LucasChess (Graham's driver is integrated) and it's working like a charm (for offline games). Of course, I have Silicon Labs driver installed. Chessconnect does work fine as well (Win 11, USB connection). I'm very pleased with the Tabutronic. Thanks and best.

Anpear_Chess

I have a DGT Pegasus and a Tabutronic Sentio. I am very happy with the Tabutronic. It is very appreciated to be able to play games in lichess knowing that if you start it, you finish it. I can't say the same about DGT Pegasus. On the Android mobile I have tested the app using USB and it works perfectly. With kiwi+chessconnect I have tested the .img that they are preparing to be able to use the certabo bluetooth module. The bluetooth connection works very well in lichess.

chessroboto

How has the Certabo worked for you one month in?

Kromok2

@Ampear_Chess

Maybe I'm missing something here but, as far as I know, Chessconnect on Android does not support USB devices at the time and TT Chess Online supports Tabutronic boards via BLE only (on Android). Which Android app using Tabutronic Sentio via USB are you talking about ? Perhaps "Chess for Android" or "White Pawn" ? Thanks wink

Kromok2

Hey there,

It's been a while, any news about the Android app for the Tabutronic Cerno/Sentio ? When is it going to be released ? Hope Android USB connection will also be supported. Thanks and best.

chessroboto

Does the Certabo board work on chess.com? Or does on need to buy the Tabutronic to play on chess.com?

Kromok2

Hey @chessroboto

Chessconnect supports both the Certabo and the Tabutronic (via USB or BLE) so you don't actually need to use the producer app. The Certabo is a wooden chessboard (uses RFID tags), the most stylish one, the Tabutronic Sentio uses magnetic pieces and the Tabutronic Cerno uses RFID tags. The Cerno is kind of like a cheaper Certabo board. Ciao wink
