Merci @Powderdigit ;-) Magnifique !

As I will have no other choice than to wait until August, I thought that this set could be a clue to illustrate games whose number starts with 800. So most certainly a model made of exotic wood : size 8 Chavet in varnished rosewood.

and a "small skewer" sizes 10 - 8 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3

Truly.

Altough the white pieces look more yellow than white.

BrownishGerbil

The varnish adds so much depth to the color of the rosewood, magnificent!

I am remain so happy with my Chavet pieces that I purchased from the gentleman @Walterbeinsur …. Here are the green pieces matched with a vintage board that I recently acquired.

Those Chavet pieces are *so* good, @Powderdigit. insert-jealous-emoji-if-one-existed-here

@lotsoblots - thanks. It is a favourite of mine for sure. I enjoy collecting if nothing more than for mixing and matching pieces and boards and sharing ideas with the good folk of this forum. I also know something is working well when my wife makes a comment and she really likes this combination of the green pieces on the vintage board. This will stay out on display and to play for a while yet.

That chess set is perfect.

Perfect form and function. That could be your only chess set. And you could be happy.

Thank you and I agree … if this was my only set - I would be happy, no doubt.

@Powderdigit Which do you like more the green one or the normal Jurawood version?

Mate - with this one I get the best of both worlds. A unique or rarely seen green dark side, where I can still appreciate the wood knots and swirls through the stain along with with the direct beauty of the light side. They are both excellent.

That is such a great set, Powder!

Could I ask where you got the vintage board from? It seems perfect to me — the raised border and the even, horizontal wood grain.
magictwanger

The acoustic guitar crowd on the Martin Guitar Forum call those swirls and streaks "character".

Quite desirable and very interesting looking set there.

Hi @Khopqblanca - good to hear from you. The board is a ripper! It was purchased locally(online), second-hand; it came with pieces which weren’t to my taste but I’ll sell the pieces and keep the board.

From Australia?!?? I didn’t believe we would have such good vintage boards here. I’ll have to keep my eyes out for one. Was it through Gum Tree / FB Marketplace or something?

Aaaah august... such a nice time for a new reveal wink
