Chess Bazaar World Championship Set vs. Official World Champ Set

Any chance of a weight comparison between the white and black pieces or is it the case they are both made from boxwood so weights are +/-1g?

Also be interested to know the individual piece heights and base diameters.

The ChessByIndia set appears much nicer than the ChessBazaar. At first glance, I noticed the following CBI improvements over the CB: King crown indents. Queen and Bishop finials. CBI Knight has improved shorter snout than the CB. Although, the white CBI Knight left eye is cockeyed. Like a raised eyebrow. And nice touch with the White felt bottoms on the CBI pieces. NOT BAD!   ....aaaaand it's out of stock. Bummer.

That's bullcrap then.

But of course you're a loyal soldier in the Western superiority regime.

No, what’s bull crap is what you are saying.
The fact is that I own both the CB copy and the Official set, so I can and have done a real life, physical comparison of the two sets.

I posted pictures of the corresponding pieces of each set side by side.  And I gave the actual piece weights as well.  These are facts.

I then explained some real, and physical differences between the sets that cannot be seen in pictures.  Yes, some piece designs and build produce better handling results.  Yes, this is a subjective assessment because there are no real measurements or pictures that can communicate such things.  In this I claim more experience than many due to the fact that I have owned and played with and handled a lot of different Chess pieces.  I do have experience in this.

I then gave MY OPINION on which set was better and I gave explanations for my opinion.
Both sets are made in the East.  And nothing I said referred to any kind of Western superiority, which you have completely made up.

So, sound67, take this as an official statement to you.  Stop insulting me and anyone else you decide.
I am going to now file 2 complaint reports against you, sound67.  The first is for this quoted post and disrespectful statements in it.  The second is for your latest post calling me some weird German name.

You are now warned.  Stop it.

I compared the side by side pieces in the op not knowing which set was which. Except for the knight, I preferred the pieces on the left. Now I know I'm preferring the set from Chess Bazaar.

I prefer my dark pieces to not be black.  I really like the looks of this set in that wood.  Maybe I will need to point out to my wife that I must take a certain amount from this stimulus check coming for this set.

Although the black is sold out on the CBI site, the dark sheesham is still available on CBI Etsy storefront. $104.93 Shipped.

Woah, very bold statement by CBI:  "THIS SET IS MADE WITH 100 % ACCURACY AS PER FIDE DETAILS"

For $100 usd this is could be an everyday banger set in a sack. In which case the dark sheesham wood is definitely a better option over ebonized black for the occasional dings and drops. Go for it!

Hi, lately there have been personal attacks and also attacks directed at certain segments of the world.

Let's keep all posts directed to the topic. Try to post constructive information. Yes, you can disagree on the quality of a product, etc. but keep it to that and do not name call.

I was the one who locked the other thread because one post after another was just an attack and had nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Please be considerate with your posts.

It has been way beyond recently. It is about time someone did something.

@Eyechess - Let me get this straight. You're reporting @sound67 for his remarks but at the same time considering the product he's recommending?

BTW, Walther Löhlein appears to be a well respected ophthalmologist. I don't think @sound67 meant any harm. His actions seem like boys who make fun of girl they like.

@sound67 - Wow, that's a beautiful set! Sheesham wood for the dark pieces give a level of depth and grace not found in the ebonized pieces. I wonder if ChessbyIndia is the supplier of the official version. Color of the felt, the carvings, the dorkiness of the knight...all seem spot on. These are of course my personal opinion based on photos on the Internet. Actual facts may be disputed.

I do not like being insulted and attacked.  I will actively defend myself by those insulting and attacking.  Note I have not attacked or made insults.  Yes, in one guy’s case I have commented on him being a liar because he has lied a lot, about me.  I have also told him he is an idiot because he has constantly misread what I have written and his writings have been loaded with grammatical and contextual errors.  In his case, and now with this German miscreant, I have only talked about them attacking me and I have not wrongly accused or misidentified their persons.  Yes, this is active defense.

I simply can no longer stand for this type of abusive behavior.

With that, I can like a set and pieces.  I do not personally dislike these guys.  I just majorly disagree with their poor behavior on this forum.

@Zagryan, I understand what you are saying. However, what some are saying about and to @Eyechess are not appropriate. They are not friends who have known each other a long time.

I have a group of friends that I have known for many decades. We can say things to each other that outsiders might deem as inappropriate but we can push the boundaries of jokes because we have known each other for so long. One time someone we all know tried to joke around with us in the same manner. We did not appreciate his jokes because he has not known us long enough to make those kinds of jokes. I think the same thing applies here to the situation with @Eyechess.

@Eyechess and @MCH818 - Point well taken! Now that I think of it, I'll probably have acted the same if I were in your shoes.

No one should have to suffer fools lightly. I side with @Eyechess. The insulter needs to be reprimanded tout de suite otherwise we get a back and forth ad nauseam.

It amazes me that chess is supposedly played by people who are considered to be intelligent.

I assume all of you guys are,but the deplorable sinking to depths,to knock one another reaks and is getting tiresome.....Btw,the guy(you know who you are) who loves to knock the western part of the globe whenever the chance comes up, aught to take a good look at the history of where you are from!

I used to like you.

I don't know about reprimanding anyone involved. I just think we should stick to talking about chess stuff... inexpensive, expensive, good deals, bad deals, what's good, what's bad, etc.

Chessbazaar copy of the genuine Fide Championship set has not gone well. CB knight is badly made which goes to prove how hard it is to copy the Fide’s one. The CB queen is also an awkward copy as is the king. Royal Chess Mall also tried to copy the Fide Championship set but their copy is even worse than CB.

Gotta be consequences for bad behavior otherwise it will continue.

I agree but I think this recent case has been a little more mild than previous cases.
