I have about 70 chess books I want to sell. I'm daunted by the task of listing them online, so I thought I'd try this first...

Look at the pictures, and message me if there is one you want.
If anyone is in the DC area and wants a lot of chess books, direct message me and we'll work something out for the whole lot (contactless pick up style). happy.png

I've had some requests for better pictures, so here you go:

Basically doing a name-your-price system happy.png cheers.

Some good books there but a bit old.

I'm 57 years old and I have quite a few of those books, all purchased in the 70s and 80s.

Avatar of Edmo101

which of those would you recommend to a beginner(I'm around 1029 in rapid)? I would like to buy one but I'm not sure which one would benefit me the most.

Avatar of Optimissed

Maybe the Winning Chess Tactics one.

Or How to Think Ahead in Chess

How to Think Ahead In Chess is awful. It’s just an opening repertoire book.
Avatar of Optimissed

For a beginner, anything at beginners' level is good.

Tom Watson has a reputation as one of the very best chess writers so English...e5 but it's in descriptive! Then there's also Pachman and Kotov. Just keep away from anything at all to do with Emmanuel Lasker.

@SquidDr, Thanks for the great deal on the books!

To everyone else considering a book or two (or more) from SquidDr, I have never met the man, but we came to an easy agreement on a couple of books last night and he already shipped them out first thing this morning. Good deals and quick turnaround - nice in today's world!

Hello! To those wondering in buying a book from here, I would recommend it. I followed the recommendations here and got two books for a good price. I was also sent a tracking number right away so it seems like a fair deal.

Which ones did you buy?

I got How to solve chess problems by Howard and Winning chess tactics by Horowitz

for the most part the books have been averaging $5 each (there are a few exceptions) and $3.33 for shipping via USPS media mail to continental US.

I snagged "What's the Best Move?" by Evans and "The Treasury of Chess Lore" by Reinfeld.

I thought about 75 cents each your money. Old chess books must be making a comeback!

Again, it's all name-your-price. I'm trying to go off of prices I see online, but less. I wish you luck finding 75 cent chess books.

How to Think Ahead In Chess isn’t bad because it’s a beginners book. It’s bad because it’s bad.
Avatar of Optimissed

How interesting. Sometimes, bad chess books are good.

Isn't that a Huey Lewis and the News song?

I don't know. I used to enjoy bad chess books in a perverse sort of way. You can learn from them. They teach you self confidence.
