I use a ZMF II, and I really enjoy it. They have had issues that have since been worked out. No trouble with mine at all, easy to program, does increment and delay.

I owned a ZMF-II and I also liked it for what it was.

Of course it only had touch sensors and no buttons, so there is no tactile feedback on the move.

The LEDs flashing has been complained about by a number of players.

I have also heard problems by the fact that the delay cannot be seen simultaneously with the remaining time.

Also, this clock is in the high end of the $50 range.  At that price, the DGT NA does not have the same problems at all and is actually the preferred clock by the majority of players for just a little less money.

The ZMF Pro does have a metal body and huge displays.  In talking with 3 or 4 Chess retailers, I have heard this clock is not selling well.  I talked with a person that knows the owner and creator of the ZMF clocks and he said the guy was considering discontinuing the Pro.  At the $100 range the Chronos clocks and DGT 3000 present a much better quality value.

Now, I know there are a number of people that really like their ZMF clocks.  I don't mean to disagree with them at all.  The only thing I am saying is what the majority of players are going with and their opinions and choices.

At the $50 range, the DGT NA is also easy to program and in the vast majority of cases have no problems either while providing both delay and increment as well.

Now, the original poster is saying he is heading towards a clock in the $100 range.  In that range, the clocks are better in number and quality of details compared to the lower price range clocks.

I assure you that since you currently own the ZMF-II clock, you would find the ZMF Pro to have a sturdier body and bigger display and like that one.  You would also find the Chronos GX to be nicer.  I know because I used to own a ZMF-II and 2 guys I know also used to own one of them.  We all sold those clocks and now have Chronos GX models in its place.  By the way, I also sold my DGT NA and DGT 2010 and now use only the Chronos GX when I would have used one of them.

Eyechess, you are really surprizing me!

How many clocks do you have or you have used?

When you say you had sold few clocks, where do you sell it? Is there any site to sell good used chess clock?  [other than ebay]

I have owned all but the ZMF Pro.

I sold them to local people.  Most I have sold to a tournament organizer.  I sold them to him quite cheap, for use in local scholastic and our club run events.  The ZMF-II I sold to one of my students because he kept insisting I sell him a clock.  He is not playing much lately.

I brought a zmf plastic case clock didn't like it because it was heavy and big.. Then I got a Chronos gx for 80. Love the small foot print of the Gx and its build... The dgt clock blows with its resetting procedure

Only an idea - children in third world countries like the Philippines love to play chess, but chess clocks are beyond their financial abilities. Do you know anyone with spare chess clocks who would like to donate to help those in need?
If yes, please send to:

Iloilo City Host Lion Club International President Ms Prima Buckley, Santa Clarita School, Puerto Real, Lapaz, Iloilo City, Philippines.

Lions Club International is the world's biggest voluntary organisation, so be assured all clocks received will find a good home in a needy school.

Even broken clocks can be repaired cheaply in Philippines.

Message me if needed.
Thank you - it would be a wonderful Christmas gift.

P.S. Just a thought, the previous email could extend to chess sets, books, an even a magnetic demonstration board. There are many strong players here in Philippines willing to teach in schools, but without equiment to teach with.

Your donation would help develop chess in this part of the world and give many children the opportunity to learn this wonderful game.

Thank you for any support you or your friends could give. :-)

Is Chronos GX or Zmart Pro better? They should be rather similar in terms of functionality.
