Complicating things does not automatically make then better.
Chess clock with touchscreen technology and rechargeable battery.

Touch screens are a matter of personal taste. They are being abandoned in ships, planes and now in cars because of no haptic feedback.
Such feedback may not be important in a chess clock. But I avoid touchscreens as they get covered with fingerprints & smudges. Eventually they get scratched from being wiped off again & again. I won't buy a touchscreen laptop.

Haverum... I respect your opinion, but please read my first sentence. You like touchscreens ; I don't call your taste bullsh_t.
Most phones I've used, borrowed or seen have fingerprints. Even iPhones with their oleophobic coating. Perhaps in Texas we eat too much brisket. Smudged & scratched screens are quite usable. But without a hammer my son's Galaxy developed a crack. My grandson's iPhone was cracked. My previous tablet was discarded with a cracked screen.
For fifty years I've used electronic equipment at work and in Ham Radio. Screen's are great ; one of the first instruments I bought was an oscilloscope. But do they all have to be touch-screens ? For phones & tablets, of course. But the fad the past 15 years has been touch screens on everything. Even coffee-makers come with touch-screens. Perhaps their use involves less thinking.
Touch screens are here to stay. But why add the cost & fragility of a touchscreen if simpler, and perhaps more reliable, tactile 'haptic' controls would suffice ? The least reliable touch screens are small ones and chess clocks ain't got much area.
If an engineer can't produce a clock with mechanical controls, maybe they should be designing bedsteads. Also questionable is a chess clock adjusted with a cell phone. When I went to a tournament last weekend I left my phone at home.
The Chess Evolution premium clock, https://www.chess-evolution.com/shop_detail/77, is the first chess clock I am aware of that has touch screen technology and a rechargeable battery. Do you think these will be standard features of new chess clocks going forward?
