They even reproduce the slight leaning of the padauk king very well lol nah j/k. They should put better pictures.

If anyone has TCE's ear, please let them know, they really need to do something about their awful studio photography. It's one of the worst I've seen for a major chess manufacturer. The lighting is amateurish. The color correcting and post processing is non-existent. Even the cell phone pic @Krames posted in #17 looks better than any of the product shots. I have a feeling the practice of nepotism may have something to do with it unfortunately.

I'm shocked that in this day and age the TCE webmaster looked at those Chavet images and said, "Ehhhh, good enough." and proceeded to use them as-is. It's literally 20 stupid minutes of time to fix and color correct those batch of images. Even less if the photographer spent a few minutes Googling how to take a product shot photo with a camera to begin with.

TheOneCalledMichael

Yeah I agree, for such a major player and it's now 2021 they should be able to take decent product photography. It's not that expensive to invest in a small studio setup for that.

Dear All Chess collectors,

We will shortly update with new professional images on our website for Chavet series.
Due to busy working hours we weren’t able to take good images.

But definitely we will change all the images.

Have a lovely weekend to all of you .

with Regards

@TCE-Rishi

You've used this awful, color-processed, product image of the previous Chavet set on the TCE website for years. Years. Please destroy it.

Here use the below one. It literally took me 1 minute to fix. It's my gift to you. LOL

TheOneCalledMichael

Mister Rishi, did you change the knight a little bit? It looks like the snoot is thicker? I like that much better than the old version.

[edit] it looks like the rosewood version has thicker snoot than the padauk version. The padauk is just like the old version.

Krames
Rishi,

I’m ordering the rosewood today. Thank you for all the emails and you the time you took to answer my questions. I’m very excited about this new set. Thank you!!!!!

Odd. When I bought my first nice set at the beginning of this year, I had no interest in Chavet or the Dubrovnik. A few months ago, I put the Dubrovnik on my wish list. But the Chavet did not appeal to me. After looking at more photos of the set and looking at the TCE pieces, I think this set is being added to the list. Yikes! - just after I told my wife, "Only one more set [Dubrovnik]."

TheOneCalledMichael

Chavet and Dubrovnik, you can't go wrong with those two happy.png

Michael: Just looked again at your "My final collection" post. I will tell my wife to blame you 😀

I suddenly remember wat my mom used to tell me..."you always hang around with those no good kids! What's wrong with you!" 😂

😊 Ha! Almost my exact experience.

Through various threads on this forum, I have come to like the robust simplicity of the Chavet design - and my step-dad is French - so like the idea of such a set made-in-France🇫🇷 in my small collection. Whether I get one - made in France or inspired by France is a reasonably big question I am yet to answer. The former is my preference.

The Dubrovnik - yes, that too! Albeit my wallet want stretch to more than something like then CB DV3.0 on special rather than Noj and in 2022 at that.

For quiet some time I followed different threads on Chavet sets and I like it very much. Now I just need to know which kind of wood I like the most and also wait for considerable discount to make a purchase.

Just to add - this is just that other chess set or two - what happens when this madness spreads over to the many fine high end chess boards - thats on offer ? if only nervous.png

I agree with mister buddy. I'm lucky to find some originals but still waiting for the 2000 B210 to fall on my lap.
