So I'm looking to start putting some effort into studying this game, and I was wondering if there is free software out there that I can use to do some very basic position evaluation work. I've heard people mentioning pay programs like chessbase, but I was wondering if there is a program I can use to get my feet wet to see if this computer aided analysis is worth it or not for me.
Well i do own ChessBase9 and Fritz10, its good software and chessbase have lots of good other products but if your just srtarting ChessMaster its a lot more cheap and would do the job.
