Do anyone know of a good article or book on chess history that I can find online. I'm looking for something that starts at it history in India.

Best book ever written on the subject: A History of Chess by H.J.R. Murray.

You might also check out Yuri Averbakh's History of Chess

Richard Eales, "Chess: A History of a Game" is also quite good as is David Shenk's "The Immortal Game." 

They all start at the beginning....

Nice references.  The Murray book is available on Amazon with improved typeface (free to $2.99 in cost) Kindle version.  Looks interesting.
