I don’t have any experience with that set. I have been told that house of chess is the place for travel sets. This one has been recommended before.

Wids88, thanks so much for the suggestion. That is a nice looking set. For the travel set I am looking for, the ability to hold a position when closed or packed away is pretty high my list. I would also like to stick with magnetic sets, though I would entertain a nice peg set.
The one thing I’m not very keen on about small travel sets is constantly breaking down and setting back up, especially if I am in the middle of a game. It would seem options in this regard are quite limited unfortunately (or maybe I am not looking in the right place!). Thanks again for your suggestion.

The Chess House Play Keeper is a great option that I seriously considered. It has been unavailable until recently so I looked around for something comparable. I got lucky and picked up both a Drueke magnetic play keeper set with the cardboard box and an older but still in its sealed packaging older version with the better robust plastic box. Both have an excellent magnetic boards, and as an added bonus I have some wooden travel magnetic pieces from an Indian vendor that fit both boards. They are a bit smaller, better featured, and make the boards less crowded than the Drueke pieces do.
