My worst horror story is when my puppy chewed up my King sitting on a coffee table. I guess he thought it was a bone.!Surprised

Fifty years ago, my aunt was living in Okinawa and bought me a wonderful Chinese chess set. About twenty years ago, our then-dog decided she'd munch a couple of the pawns. Three weeks ago, I found some replacements.

A few years ago I left my vintage West German set "en prise" with a puppy in the house.  The puppy had a good time chewing on a rook.  Just recently I got around to having Alan Dewey make very nice replacement.

No piece stories, but ...

In the 80's I made the mistake of leaving a Drueke chess board at my girlfriend's for a short time. She put it in her closet sandwiched between some other stuff.  It got a nasty, deep scratch when she retrieved it.

I could have cried, but it was on me for leaving it there.

@goodknightmike, beautiful work by Alan. A well-turned match.

Yes. Alan's the best! I just sent him a 4.4 " Ayres set needing many repairs.

That white pawn on the right looks like a replacement.

Yep, it doesn't look quite right compared to the other pawns...too thick and chubby. 😎

Ok So im going to tell a story about one of my pieces. Ok so at school I just won my first nice chess board and my school said they need it on display for a school event. Of course me being a nice person I said yes. Well some little kids decided to play with my board. And remember I just got this board. And the worst thing happened... THEY BROKE ONE OF MY ROOKS!!!

curious shelby.

when talking of high value, premium equipment like stated in #12.  do you have legal options?  can you call the police charge them with vandalism and try to get money out of some kind of insurance.

Eating $600 like that sounds unreasonable

I had a set of fancy pieces and turns out my brothers used them for army men so now most of them are headless
