It is a spanish set.
The most important manufacturers were MARIGO and indajesa
to me it looks like 50s, 60s...maybe another manufacturer or an early design from indajesa.
I would say indajesa because of the quality, which seems good
It must be post war, because of the king. So not before 50s
Best regards
Although I’m 63 and played on and off when I was younger, I have always wanted to get back into playing chess more regularly. And now I have the time. I have had a board that my father-in-law made back in the sixties when he worked for a company in the East End of London producing chess, backgammon boards etc and over the years I have l looked for a set that would grace the board he gave me. I happened upon this set, in a charity shop of all places! I think you will agree it looks great on his board!? I would dearly love to know the sets age and maker. To me it looks fifties/sixties and looks like a French Staunton design, but then again it resembles Lardy or an E.S. Lowe set, or a Spanish set? But I’m really only guessing and probably completely wrong.
So I would greatly love to get any feedback from people on this site, who have much more knowledge than me. But I’m learning!
kind regards,
Kevin.
