Chess set identification please...

I posted this inquiry as an "aside" in another topic. Reposting here for exposure as it was a bit deep in the other thread.

I recently bought this set 2nd-hand and would like to know who it's made by and if it's a known series. If so, what's it called?

The king is 105mm tall with a 45mm diameter base. I don't know what wood(s) though, possibly boxwood and ebonised boxwood - but the black pieces have a lower-toned ding when (gently) struck. That is, the dark pieces all clonk but the light ones tend (slightly) toward clink, so it could very likely be other woods.

Thanks in advance for any info.

If you search Bridled Knight or giant Bridled Knight - you’ll find similar sets - I’m only looking at small photos on my phone … so it’s hard to tell which version you have …. but likely it’s a variant from one of the Indian manufacturers. Others may be more specific on knowledge of the model.

Thanks. "Bridled" was the one term I hadn't thought to search for. I'll take another look using that. Cheers.

Edit: no luck there, only "similar" ones. I did find a couple of sets with dinky bishops (shorter than the knights) though, which I hadn't found last time. So at least I know that's a "thing" and not just a mistake in manufacture. Reassuring... happy.png

I just ran across a similar set on etsy called the Ringy Rosewood and boxwood set. 4". The knights look VERY similar so it caught my eye but didn't check the rest of the set.
