I am visiting Berlin for a few days, are there any chess stores that are worth visiting?

In the historic center. Great stuff, new and old.

Is it still open because Google says it's permanently closed?

Wow! That’s too bad if true…. I wondered how such a wonderful niche shop could afford the rent at that location…. But perhaps he has moved?

The chess shop above isn't a proper chess shop - it concentrates on chess design: pieces and boards, among other games. There is a specialist chess shop in Charlottenburg with a large selection of chess books, magazines and a fair number of chess boards, clocks and pieces.

Sophie-Charlotten Straße 28, 14059 Berlin

The highlight for passersby is their daily PUZZLE - hanging in the window (on the left of the picture)

It seems that it has new name and new ownership - here is the website - it is called Chess Tigers now.

The inside of the store (from the photos on their web site) looks rather sterile and unwelcoming.

I think I'll contact both of them, thanks
