Hello All,

I hate spamming the forums like this but I get a lot of great feedback on here and I know this is probably one of the best places to reach avid chess players.   My summer is wrapping up and I am about to start teaching again but I wanted to have an end of summer sale so I am offering 15% off of any of my Deluxe style chessboards.  I have a wide variety of options but if you have something a little different in mind that I don't currently offer, send me a message on here or on Etsy and I can work with you and still give you a 15% discount.  All the items in my shop also come with free shipping anywhere in the US.  This goes from today and ends on Sunday at midnight.

So to recap:

-End of Summer Sale on all of my Deluxe boards

-15% off

-Free Shipping in the US

-Goes until Sunday

-Use Coupon Code: SUMMER

Thank you,

Hi do you produce folding chess boards as well?

Avatar of bborkowski

I don't currently but that is something I can look into if you are interested in something like that?  Are you thinking something like a box that folds out into chessboard or just a chessboard that folds in half?

I do have a 4 pieces magnetic chessboard: https://www.etsy.com/listing/467384927/tower-series-maple-and-sapele-chessboard

Damn it.  Your boards look beautiful.  I wish I knew about you a month ago.  I just bought a board off Amazon and could have gotten something so much nicer from you.  I would have loved to support a fellow Coloradoan!

Thank you.  Let me know if you ever need anything and I can gladly help!

I'm curious.  How thick are the boards you make?  Probably varies but I'm curious about a basic board with 2.5" squares, or one of those 4 piece magnetic ones?

Are any of them inlaid or veneer, or are they all solid wood top to bottom?

Also, how noticeable is the seam on the magnetic boards once assembled?

Really like your stuff!

They do vary a little bit but I try to keep them around 3/4th of an inch.  Both the Tower Series and my other boards are about the same.  There all of my boards are solid

lumber.  The seam on my magnetic boards are a little noticeable but when sliding pieces across it doesn’t typically doesn’t catch or anything.

Thank you for your interest, if you do want a board or have any questions feel free to email me at bradleyb40@gmail.com.

Great news Brad, If you offered this in mid-September I have a better chance of ordering something with no rush to make. Your work is quality and still one of my best boards ever that you made for me when you first started years ago.  I get caught up on colors and like the white maple if there is such.

Keep up the great work will look on your ETSY site when I get a chance. Need a couple more inexpensive boxes to store some pieces.

Just so people know I do not get any type of payment/commission/or any other "kickback" that anyone else cannot get on this forum.

Brad is easy to work with and will send you pictures at crucial stages.

I wish everyone on here gave full disclosure before endorsing a person, product, or company.

very Nice boards . would not be cheap to ship to Amsterdam ? then tax on top !

Avatar of bborkowski

wiscmike, I will gladly help you out in mid-September!

lighthouse, shipping should be around $50 to Amsterdam but I am not sure what the tax would be.  I think it is usually 30% of items price.

Bob, I do not know what they call it but when you made me the original board I wanted it to look a little raised and layered if they make sense. Since then I see you are doing a lot of that. I think the boards just look better that way.

Question for you....are some woods more susceptible to warping?

Good luck in another school year. You are teaching a great skill, amazing what you can learn in school these days. Have any of your students made chess boards yet?!

I have forgotten to do something that I really should have done.

Back in the early Spring, I ended up buying 2 of Bob's 4 piece, magnetic boards.

I wanted a board to bring for tournament play that was nice.  The set I  originally wanted a board for was an Ebonized set from Official Staunton.  I wanted there to be a good contrast on the board for the pieces and still be easy on the eyes for longer play.

I ended up getting a Caribbean Rosewood and Maple board with a Cherry border.  That board is so nice that I ended up buying another one for my Golden Rosewood and Walnut piece sets three weeks later.  For that second board, I got the American Walnut, Maple and Cherry border board.

I couldn't be happier.

Brad does excellent work at a very fair price and quickly as well.

Ron what color combo would you suggest for a set that was just black and antiqued?

Sorry, Ron, I didn't see the ebonized. Got about 60% of my eyesight back after the macular hole operation but have to read with a magnifier till I get cataracts out of that eye now as you know they set in right away. Amazing, I am so happy I can see at all out of that eye.  Have to see exactly what Caribbean Rosewood and Maple look like in combo.

Not to jinx myself but I have not had any issues with any of my raised borders of any kind or out of any material.  I think it has to do with how they are built where the playing surface reinforces the border and vise versa.  And I am happy to make boards that you folks are happy with!  I look around at some other sites and I think it is ridiculous what they charge.  I like making high quality solid wood boards that won't break the bank.
