i came across chesscafe.com, and saw that their wooden sets are all about 70% off. but since ive never seen them before, i don't know if that's the normal price or if it's a legit good sale. does anyone have any experiance with them? if so please let me know if it's worth buying or not.

thanks

They are good people as in A-1... I bought 2 International sets from them & like them a lot. I did have a problem with some weighted pieces but. they replaced them for free!! It was none of that Hogwash of send the pieces back to us on your dime & then we will send you replacement pieces on your dime also!! PM me if you have Q's. Chess Cafe is A-1 in my book. Check out chess pics com for great pics of the International set.

I looked at the site. Those are some sick prices. The international combo with the  nice board, for $150? The International set for $27. what's up with that? they're probably starting a new line of sets and want to get rid of this stuff. Its a steal. Anybody want a chess set? sick prices! Buy all of their stock and start a chess store.

You must mean slick prices & not sick prices? The International series is priced now for around 11-12 bucks. Shipping priority mail is around 12 bucks. I agree, they are closing out old stock & selling the Olympian & the Olympian Titan sets it seems!

sounds good, i just wasn't sure if it was a site that always displays awesome discounts just to sell or not.

I just ordered from them. That's an incredible sale. I spoke to the guy, he said they're consolidating two warehouses into one, and need to get rid of stuff to fit into the one warehouse. Its a bargain, anything, its a bargain.

Its legit.. It seems they are closing out old stock & getting in new Chess pieces. The International set is seen in Tournaments everywhere I have seen. I don't know if the new Fide pieces will be used or not in the future? The International pieces are very decent IMO.

Somebodysson ... you might want to check your posting settings as the print is very tiny! I am sure you will enjoy the set Amigo! Also. thank you for the info on the warehouse!!!

Man, I rushed on the website and wanted to buy the International set so bad (among other things) ; but I'm french and the shipping costs 90$.

This is unfair. Anyone planning to visit France in a nearby future ?

oh I didn't know why someone was saying they couldn't read it. Is this better? It looks too big for me on my end.

Is this the right size? I can't tell from here because my settings are all off.

I too bought their International Series set at about 12 bucks and it's a very very good set for that money. Recommended.

Looks sold out of everything right now.  Being Canadian, they would have added $41 for shipping (for chess pieces?  I can get tires shipped from the U.S. for that much!!)

I paid less than half that for shipping to Canada.

Do Canadians & France have to pay a VAT tax?

haha, I was trying to use current lingo. Young people say "sick" when something is really really good. That's what I meant by 'sick prices'. Awesome prices.

Yup.  I was looking at the "set" which included those pieces, plus a bag and a foam board.  So that's what moved the shipping charges up, and most of those were out of stock.

BUT... when I went back after reading your comment, I see that they had JUST the pieces on sale too, and the shipping for those was $23.70 - so, still bloody expensive, but it now makes the purchase "doable!".  Correction:  DONE.

nice. I'm glad someone profited from those 'sick' prices. Mail prices are too d#$n expensive, and the cr@p sellers charge for shipping and handling...just a scam. But I figure with 70% off it's probably affordable now.
