Sorry, forgot an important step -

For Lichess you also need to create and enter the API key to allow the extension to connect and talk to the website.

@Rsava - thanks! I did not have the extension set to use BT. Changed that and it worked fine. Just played a couple of games against bots on chess.com to test.

Excellent! Do not hesitate to ask if you need more help or run into any issues.

Thanks for the help. I did have a weird thing in one game where a bunch of lights on the eOne board started blinking. It was like it was displaying the last few moves at the same time. I disconnected and reconnected and things started working normally again.

That happened to me, too, a couple of times. I am working on this. Was it by any chance after one player made a casteling move? And what color were you playing?

Avatar of CFossa

I was playing white, and I think it was after i moved a piece to the wrong square

Are there any Chessconnect users on the outer Hebrides or in Scotland for that matter? I am going to be visting there after Easter... 😇 (sorry for being off topic)

User @qnuti has spent many hours and testgames on helping me iron out a bug that could make Chessconnect stop transmitting moves on chess.com. 👍💪🙏

Consequently, version 3.3.25 is on its way, making Chessconnect yet a little bit more robust.

A user reported the following problem: "On Chess.com, when I connect the board before playing against an AI, I have got no problems but when I click to play online I can not link the board anymore, when I click on "Connect" nothing happens.
In the console "board found with id board. Waiting for game." is shown everytime I click but the board seems to not be linked."

Does anybody else experience this?

Avatar of Rsava

What board are they using? If I have one, I will try to recreate for you.

@Rsava: Chessnut Air. Thank you! 🙏

But the problem is most likely unrelated to the chessboard. I am afraid that chess.com might have made changes to their code. 😬

Just played a full game here against a computer (madame-mate) and it was flawless.

Board connected quickly, moves were very quick, and promotion worked like it should.

That is using an Edge browser with ver 3.3.25 (which I believe is the latest full release).

Let me know if you need something different.

I think, he said that playing against a computer works but playing against a human opponent does not. 😳

Avatar of Rsava

Oh, ok, I will look at that as well.

I thought it meant playing against the AI in the Chessnut app.

I just tried to grab a quick game and could not get one. I will try again around my lunch time.

One thought though, with the Air if it does not connect in a certain amount of time, it turns BT off. I noticed while waiting to be paired BT turns off (on the board) and you have to turn it back on by short pressing the power button.

If the BT light is not on it shows "No compatible devices found' when I click the connect button until I turn BT back on.

Maybe that is what is happening?

Thanks, Richard. I asked the user to follow this thread.

If anybody else has a problem playing human opponents on chess.com using Chessconnect. Please let me know.

Hello,

I've recorded my screen if it can help you to reproduce :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6qLDBpnLH0

As you can see, the button seems to be broken only on the page before starting a game against a real opponent.

Avatar of Rsava

What browser is that?

Currently stuck on a meeting, will attempt to reproduce when I am off.
