Chessconnect: a free chrome extension for electronic chessboards

And 3.4.4beta is out. This is a release candidate. I am going to run my length final tests protocol this weekend.

....and we are now officially more than 1500 users!

Surely chess[]com can see the value of this extension and the need to officially recognize it ...

Is this version working with Android tablet and USB board o just bluetooh yet?. Thank you very much!

Only Bluetooth LE on Android so far.

Does anyone know if the ChessNut sensors, that go into the pieces, are the same tech as the Certabo chips? Are they both 125khz RFIDs?

I just updated the beta to 3.4.5. Tweaked the sounds a little bit and made some bug fixes. Thanks to everybody who sent me feedback!

Hi good people. I've just gone across to play a game on Lichess with my DGT Smartboard and I got that error saying that chessconnect was not able to connect to my board and to check the API permissions. Now this has worked before and I haven't changed anything. Do I have to create a new token? I don't see a way to change permissions once the token has been created?

Even when l create a brand new token and select the appropriate permission of boardplay, I can't get the board to connect. This is on MacBook. I'll try my Windows Laptop.

Update: my board works against the computer on lichess in both windows and mac but neither will play against people. I might give the beta a try.

I am getting back into chess after a long hiatus and having to really brush up my skills! I have watched a number video reviews and I am going to be getting one of the Chessnut boards maybe the GO or the Air. I use a screen every day and using an e-board will be so much nicer whilst learning!

On Youtube - Adventures of a Chess Noob has mentioned your very handy extension! Fantastic cross compatibility! However I am unsure if it works on the following features on Lechess? -

• Puzzles
• Tutorials / lessons
• Study feature

I use a M2 Mac if that makes any difference?

Please could you clarify if they work, and if they don't do you have any plans to add them in the future?

Also does it work on chessable ?

My understanding from what I have read / watched there are no problems using Puzzles, learning etc on chess.com

When you created the API token, did you drop down and toggle the "Play games with board API" option?

It's not a drop down, it's: a toggle "Play games with board API - board play" and yes, I toggled that to on. It's working to some extent as I can play against the computer.

Where can we get the 3.4.5 beta please?

@GeorgeGoodnight: The beta is here and will become the official release very soon. If you still have problems, can you please try playing against maia1 bot on lichess? If that doesn't work either, please send me a console log. The new beta has logging to console always enabled. So no need to turn on debug messages first.

It's almost certainly a problem with your token. But the beta might give a slightly better error message.

On chess.com you can use almost anything. On lichess it's just regular play (yet...). Mac M2 is no problem. Chessable is not supported (yet...).

Thanks Jörn, I've got it sorted now. My fault, I went form 5|5 to 5|3 time control not realising that Lichess doesn't support the latter with a board. When the error message came up, I just assumed that it was telling me there was an error with authorisation. More haste, less speed. ;o)
